Marina Shannon
Director & Principle Physiotherapist Movewell Warkworth
Marina graduated from AUT with a BHSc (Physio) at the end of 2018. Since then, she's built on that foundation with a particular focus on strength, biomechanics, and persistent pain management — including further training in Frans Bosch's neuromechanical approach to movement and load.
Marina has a passion for helping people build strength and move well, whatever that means for you — getting back to running pain-free, lifting with confidence, or simply keeping up with life without niggles holding you back. She loves seeing people return to sport, or work through an injury to get back out there, and takes a holistic approach, looking beyond the injury itself to understand what's really driving it, and keeps your goals front and centre in every treatment plan.
With training in managing persistent pain conditions, hypersensitivity, and how the brain processes pain, Marina also has a range of tools for working with more complex, longstanding presentations like chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
In 2023, Marina took the leap and purchased Movewell Physio Warkworth, and now leads the practice as Practice Owner and Lead Physiotherapist.
Outside of work, Marina loves getting outdoors, running, stand-up paddle boarding, and exploring New Zealand's beaches, camera and coffee in hand.
